The connection between systems and processing activities
When you have mapped your systems, you are well on your way to mapping your processing activities.
When you connect a processing activity with one or more previously mapped systems in step two of the processing activity framework, Wired Relations automatically imports all the information about data subjects + personal data that are registered on the systems into the processing activity:
After having connected the relevant systems to a processing activity, you can manually modify the data subjects + personal data that were fed into the processing activity from the systems. Often you will need to delete some data subjects + personal data, which are not relevant for the processing activity you are currently mapping. A system can be used in more than one processing activity: In fact, the data subjects + personal data mapped in any system is a gross list of the personal data from all the processing activities the system is part of.
Please note that there is no dynamic link between systems and processing activities, neither one way nor the other.
If you make changes to your systems A (example: addition of personal data) and B (example: deletion of personal data) after having connected them to a processing activity, the processing activity does not automatically reflect the system changes, they must be entered manually into the processing activity:
And vice versa: The changes to personal data you make in a processing activity will not automatically be reflected in the systems used in the processing activity.
